International Concert Series 2026-27

Royal Holloway has a proud tradition of nurturing outstanding singers, and this special Alumni Spotlight brings four of our most esteemed operatic alumni together to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Dame Felicity Lott. Susan Bullock CBE, Sarah Fox, Thomas Elwin and Hilary Cronin return to the University for an evening of performances and appearances that reflects the extraordinary contribution Dame Felicity made to the world of opera and to the generations of singers who followed her.

One of Britain's most celebrated sopranos, Dame Felicity Lott enjoyed an international career spanning opera, concert and recital, appearing on the world's leading stages and working with many of the great conductors, composers and performers of her generation. Her connection with Royal Holloway remains an important part of the University's musical heritage, and this concert offers an opportunity for some of those who followed in her footsteps to remember and celebrate her through music.

Featuring appearances and performances from Susan Bullock CBE, Sarah Fox, Thomas Elwin and Hilary Cronin, For Flott brings together four distinctive voices from the Royal Holloway operatic family for an evening of music, memories and celebration.

This event is presented as part of the International Concert Series 2026-27 - The Sounding World - at Royal Holloway.

About the performers

Born in Yorkshire, Sarah Fox is one of the leading English sopranos of her generation. She was educated at Giggleswick School, Royal Holloway University and the Royal College of Music. A former winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award and the John Christie Award, she is also an Honorary Fellow of Royal Holloway College, London University. She is equally at home in many musical genres including opera, folk song and musical theatre. Read more. 

London-born tenor Thomas Elwin has established a strong reputation across Europe for his warm lyric voice, expressive musicianship, and compelling stage presence. His recent operatic roles include Alfredo (La Traviata), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Gennaro (Lucrezia Borgia), and Borsa (Rigoletto), with appearances for companies such as English Touring Opera, ENO, Opera North, and Chelsea Opera Group. Selected by BBC Music Magazine as a Rising Star of 2022, Hilary Cronin won both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2021 London Handel International Singing Competition. Hilary trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and at Royal Holloway University of London where she was awarded the Dame Felicity Lott Bursary and the Driver Prize for Excellence in Performance. Car parking

When you arrive for a College event at our Egham campus, please park in car parks 12 or 4.

Car park 12 can be accessed by turning right as you enter the main College gates and is located next to the tennis courts. If this car park is full, please drive further onto our campus to car park 4, which can be accessed by turning left at the mini-roundabout behind the Students’ Union. We would advise that you bring the College map to campus with you and give yourself plenty of time to park.

Blue Badge holders can find designated parking spaces in Car park 1W, as well as between Gardeners Lodge and the Williams Annexe. You can find these locations by looking at our campus map opposite. If you require any assistance on arrival, please contact our premises team in advance of your visit by emailing: premisesadmin@royalholloway.ac.uk and they will be happy to help.

Please note that we operate an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system on certain parts of our campus, however if you are here for an organised event, parking is unrestricted for event guests in car parks 12, 4 or 14 (or display your blue badge permit if parking in a disabled bay).
