Megan Vernon
Awarded the J A Paterson Prize for Best 1st Year History student
I definitely was not expecting to win this, so it has been a lovely end to the year! Obviously I was nervous to start uni and didn’t know what to expect, but I can honestly say I’ve had the best year of my life. I have met friends for life and have learnt so much. I have absolutely loved studying such a diverse programme, starting to get to grips with history as a discipline and working out what I am most passionate about. I’m so grateful to the history department at Royal Holloway for being so incredible and welcoming. I can't wait to see what second year brings, even if that’s different to how we all envisioned. I am so happy to have been awarded this prize and excited to get back to Egham in September!
