What was the best thing about studying here?
The best thing about studying at Royal Holloway is that it is such a close knit community with so many interesting people from all over the world. You have access to the safety and beautiful views this campus based university has to offer but you can also easily access the bigger cities if that’s what you prefer, which is why I like to say you get the best of both worlds here.
What stands out for you now that you can reflect on your time here?
What stands out is the number of opportunities you have to get involved with student life, whether that be through societies, becoming an academic representative, jobs or various give it a go events. I was never short of finding ways to meet new people.
How did you find the staff and their teaching and what was it like to be part of the department community?
The staff were always so keen to support me in any way they could and always happy to even just have a chat. I found their methods of teaching through detailed PowerPoints, practice questions and quizzes super helpful which was definitely reflected in my final grade. My experience in the department community was overall very positive, as an academic representative I was glad to have my voice heard and be able to implement changes that were brought up by my fellow class mates. The department organised multiple events for us and ensured we were kept in the loop with everything happening.
What was the most interesting thing you studied here?
The most interesting thing I studied was in my environmental economics lectures about the drastic impact the deteriorating environment has on developing countries’ GDP and gas prices, which is very relevant these days.
How has your degree prepared you for your future career path?
My degree has prepared me extremely well for my career path in Finance as I was able to select the most relevant and interesting modules for myself. The valuable knowledge I have gained has been undeniably beneficial to kickstart my career in this field.
How do you feel now you've graduated and what would you say to applicants keen to study here?
Having now graduated I can safely say these past few years at Royal Holloway have been the absolute best. I’ve made so many lifelong friends and have learned more than I could ever imagine whether that be about myself or economics. I absolutely cannot wait to stay here for another year to pursue my masters in Finance.
To future applicants I’d say, don’t shy away from asking questions and making sure Royal Holloway is the right place for you.
