Organised by Professor Ling Xiao and Dr Matthew Li, with weekly sessions led by students
The Bloomberg Business Lunch Club brings students together every Wednesday lunchtime during the Spring Term to exchange ideas, connect their learning with current events and build new friendships. Organised and supported with learning materials by Professor Ling Xiao and Dr Matthew Li, the club gives students the opportunity to lead discussions in a collaborative and inclusive environment. It attracts students from across Royal Holloway Business School, with demand for places exceeding available capacity.
Through discussions and hands-on use of Bloomberg news, data and the Bloomberg Terminal, participants explore economic and industry trends, company financial decisions, investment portfolios and company valuations. Drawing on both UK and international perspectives, students develop their research skills, financial literacy, intercultural understanding and confidence in discussing global business issues.
This year (2026), 24 undergraduate students from across our management degree programmes completed the club.
As one participant put it: “Beyond the financial insights, this was also about great conversations, new friendships, and yes… some very good sandwiches!”
20 students are recruited during the autumn term of each academic year, please contact RHBloombergDesk@rhul.ac.uk for further details.
