Technicians take part in HE Technician Takeover at Science Museum, London
Katy Flowers and Josie Handley, technicians from the Department of Geography, recently took part in the Higher Education Technician Takeover at the Science Museum in London. The Science Museum’s David Sainsbury Gallery is a permanent exhibition which gives young people aged 11-16 the chance to step into an interactive world of careers and explore a variety of different technician roles. The Technician Takeover is a high-profile outreach and careers event bringing together 50 UK technical professionals who work in science, encouraging secondary school age students to choose a future technical career in science. Katy and Josie were introducing students to the work they do in the department to support teaching and research specifically in the areas of tephrochronology and palaeoecology.
