The Centre for Audiovisual Research hosts and supports events related to audiovisual research (broadly defined) across the University. Here are some past research highlights.
Everest 1922: Audiovisual Perspectives
An event mounted by Royal Holloway’s Centre for Audiovisual Research in collaboration with the Centre for GeoHumanities and the Royal Geographical Society, making 100 years since the first film of an expedition to Mount Everest.
This event performed music that had not been heard in 100 years, and featured monks from the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, who provided musical demonstrations and helped to contextualize the communities seen in the Everest films.
