The Centre acts as a hub where researchers and industry partners can work together, developing an environment in which AI research and innovation can grow across different disciplines and sectors. Our mission is to advance AI research and strengthen skills development at every stage of the career journey, while providing an inclusive and sustainable research environment. We are committed to promoting equitable access to data, computing resources, and training opportunities - empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise to actively participate in and contribute to the future of AI. Through the promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to develop AI technologies that are socially purposeful, ethically grounded, and capable of delivering meaningful impact both locally and globally.

What is the Interdisciplinary Centre for AI and Skills at Royal Holloway?
The Centre for AI and Skills unites Royal Holloway’s diverse and rapidly expanding AI community, fostering collaboration and innovation across disciplines.
What sets Royal Holloway’s AI approach apart is its deep commitment to interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity - a distinctive strength that is increasingly recognized as essential for AI success. AI research and application span every School across the University, covering foundational AI, its technical advancements, real-world applications, and their societal and ethical implications.
Our key objectives at the Centre for AI and Skills are to establish a cohesive and visible AI presence at Royal Holloway, facilitate networking and collaboration across the university’s AI ecosystem, and serve as a central hub for coordination - both within Royal Holloway and for external partnerships and collaborations.
