Our research is influencing policy and practice on a global scale.
Encouraging innovations in political communication
Professor Ben O’Loughlin’s research explored the link between media and security and provided a foundation for innovations in political communication theory and practice as well as impacting upon government, business and media organisations.
The methodologies developed through this research project have been applied by Linguamatics Ltd, the BBC World Service and the House of Lords.
Addressing decline in youth participation in UK politics
The rapid decline in youth participation in UK electoral politics has been addressed by Dr James Sloam’s research and collaboration with user groups.
His work has highlighted the growing ‘participation gaps’ between rich and poor young people in the UK and across the European Union. Dr Sloam's research has informed policy and practice within the educational sector and helped policy-makers form strategy, approaches and guides to create better engagement with the next generation of citizens.
