What are the QS World University Rankings?
The QS World University Rankings are among the most widely referenced and influential university league tables globally. Published annually by higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds, they assess institutions across a range of disciplines using a methodology that typically includes academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper, and the H-index (a measure of both productivity and impact). Subject-specific rankings, such as those for Music, allow prospective students to compare institutions based on specialised strengths rather than overall university performance. The 2026 edition includes both traditional universities and dedicated conservatoires within its Music subject table.
