Going virtual
In previous years we have celebrated Royal Holloway’s cultural diversity with an International Music Feast – an evening of sharing home-cooked food, alongside a colourful array of music and dance from around the world. COVID 19 stops us meeting in person this year, but we can still share food and music virtually. We will do this as part of Festival Interrupted 2020.
Call for short videos (2-4 minutes)
We invite you to make a short video of cooking a favourite dish; something linked to your home, family traditions, or a part of the world with which you feel connected. Please give details of the ingredients, so others can also make and taste your dish too. If possible include some music, dance of theatre linked in some way to your dish, ideally performed by you and/or others in your home, or as a recording in the background.
We’ll curate these videos for display as part of the Festival Interrupted 2020 website. The plan is to launch the Music Feast with a live online event on 14th July. (Details TBC)
Instructions for how to create and submit a video
Please film a simple video (e.g. on a mobile phone) which features key moments of making your chosen dish. Try to ensure it includes (a) an overview of ingredients, and (b) music, dance or theatrical expression linked to the dish (and/or relevant part of the world). If you are able to edit this together this would be ideal. If not, please upload the video material for the cooking and the music/performance separately and we will endeavour to edit it together for you.
Please upload your video to the following website: https://rhul.hosted.panopto.com/ Please see guidelines for doing so here. You will need Royal Holloway credentials.
If you are an alumni or friend without Royal Holloway credentials, or have problems with uploading, please send the video via wetransfer to h.stobart@rhul.ac.uk
Please also email a photo of your dish (and yourself, if you are not too shy), the list of ingredients, and brief details about the dish (where it is from, a family tradition, etc) to h.stobart@rhul.ac.uk
If you have any queries please contact: Xabier.EtxeberriaAdrien.2014@live.rhul.ac.uk
We look forward to seeing and trying out your recipes!
All the best
