Five students from Royal Holloway Media Art’s BA Film TV and Digital Production course have just started this year’s Shanghai Summer School at Shanghai Normal University.
The four week programme includes workshops, talks, visits and other activities under the themes of Chinese and East Asian cinema and screen production. Here you can see how they spent their first week making Chinese paper puppet animation making and calligraphy.
This year’s participants are Mila Miller (year 2), Kathryn Thorp (year 1), Rebecca Komolafe (year 2), Mackenzie Curtis (year 1), and Maarja Filippov (year 2). Each student receives a full scholarship covering fees, accommodation, and all local expenses. This is the second year Royal Holloway Media Arts students have joined the Summer School which also includes university students from the US and Europe.
The programme is hosted by Shanghai Normal University which is one of our Chinese partner institutions. Royal Holloway is currently developing a 3+1 accelerated Master’s programme with Shanghai Normal University, and also a student exchange programme between our institutions in the near future.
