Meet Thasnim

Thasnim is a third year LLB Law student who volunteers with the Royal Holloway Legal Advice Centre (LAC), gaining first-hand experience supporting real clients through a range of legal issues.

Her work at the LAC has given her the opportunity to contribute to matters such as smalls claims, family issues and wills and probate, offering valuable insight into how legal principles operate beyond the classroom.

What have you learned from working in the Legal Advice Centre?

“I have learnt myriads of things. I’ve learnt how to conduct conflict of interests checks and draft advice letters and attendance notes. I’ve improved my collaborative skills by working with other students, my confidence skills by engaging and interviewing clients I had never met before, and my time management skills. I have learnt how to balance the LAC alongside my degree, part time job and maintaining a healthy work life balance. The list goes on.”

Why would you recommend studying at Royal Holloway and working in the Legal Advice Centre to applicants?

“I would recommend studying at Royal Holloway, University of London because it combines strong academic teaching with a supportive environment that encourages independent thinking and practical application of the law.

Working at the Royal Holloway Legal Advice Centre complements this by providing real client experience, helping you develop essential skills such as communication, professionalism and problem-solving, while demonstrating to future employers that you can apply legal knowledge effectively in real-world situations."
