Ellie Clark: Head of Departments prize

Ellie Clark

Awarded a Head of Departments prize for contribution to the department.

I was beyond touched and thrilled to be awarded one of the Head of Department Prizes for this year as I have loved working with the Department over the last two years and feel really privileged to be a part of the Royal Holloway History family; I can't believe that I only have a year to go- it has gone so quickly!

Being part of the department

I have loved being a part of the History community at Royal Holloway over the last two years and look forward to my final year in the History department! One of my favourite things about the department is how open and friendly everyone is, from academics, to admin teams to students. Having such a great group of people to see everyday and to work with, really does inspire you and help you to work to the best of your ability as well as encourage you to be the best person you can be! I love sitting in the department whilst doing my work as I always end up talking to someone, whether it is about their latest research or just how their day is going! Working with the department on Open Days reminds me how lucky we are as students; it is lovely to see it from an outside perspective and see the excitement on prospective students faces as they hear current students rave about their lives at Royal Holloway. Being able to have such a supportive network around me has really helped to make my university experience thoroughly enjoyable and truly memorable!

A bit about Ellie

I have just finished my second year at Royal Holloway and have loved every second. I was lucky enough to be President of the History Society this year as well as a Departmental Ambassador and Peer Guide, so I have had the chance to work closely with many within the department! I am a historical fiction enthusiast, aspiring archaeologist, with a worrying obsession for all things in the Ancient world and really enjoy spending time with my friends around campus, reading, singing and volunteering for organisations such as HRP and the National Trust, which has given me a real insight into how the world of Heritage works!
