Royal Holloway and Bedford New College: Our History of Refugee Support

Royal Holloway archivists are currently undertaking research to identify Bedford faculty and students who are associated with refugee work. As a University of Social Purpose and a University of Sanctuary, we have a deep-rooted history of standing with those in need, a tradition that continues today as we confront the challenges faced by millions displaced by war, persecution, climate change, or the violation of their fundamental rights. Recent work has uncovered various files relating to individuals who lent aid to refugees, in addition to specific refugees. In some instances, these stories ended tragically. In other instances, we have found stories of hope.
