Royal Holloway presents Honorary Fellowships

Royal Holloway, University of London, has awarded four new Honorary Fellowships.

Sarah Jane Chimbwandira, Father John Dickson SDB, Kehinde Ojo and Nick Perryman were recognised at this year’s ceremony held at the University on Wednesday 11 June 2025. 

Honorary Fellowships recognise the outstanding contributions made by individuals to the life and work of the University or to education and society more broadly.

 

Sarah Jane Chimbwandira is CEO of the Surrey Wildlife Trust and studied Zoology at Royal Holloway. She has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of her leadership in environmental conservation and innovation.

Sarah Jane has co-authored the ‘Natural Capital Investment Plan for Surrey’ and chairs Nature South-East to support large-scale ecological recovery. She focusess on the intersection of nature, technology and economy, leading initiatives such as the £1.5-million Space4Nature project and engaging in the growing field of nature investment markets.

 

Father John Dickson SDB has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship for his pastoral care and contribution to community life at Royal Holloway, where he served as Catholic Chaplain from 2012 until his retirement in 2024.

A member of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Father John has taught across schools and universities since his ordination. During his time at Royal Holloway, he worked as part of the Ecumenical and Multi-faith Chaplaincy Team, supporting students and staff across campus. He especially valued the University's rich choral tradition and his involvement with student-led Insanity Radio.

 

Kehinde Ojo is the first recipient of Royal Holloway’s Sanctuary Scholarship and has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship for her advocacy in the anti-slavery sector and her work amplifying survivor voices.

Since graduating in 2021, Kehinde has become a Program Officer at the Freedom Fund, contributing to the Survivor Leadership Fund and Corporate Accountability teams. She is also a member of the Survivor Alliance advisory board and the UK BME Anti-Slavery Network, where she co-chaired a national conference highlighting the challenges faced in government-funded safe houses.

 

Nick Perryman has been recognised with an Honorary Fellowship for his long-standing support and service to Royal Holloway.

Nick first joined the University in 1994 as a Psychology undergraduate. He served as Deputy Chair of Council until 2024 and now volunteers as Chair of the Development Board. With a career spanning investment and wealth management, Nick became CEO of a global non-profit in 2020 and, in early 2025, joined a global wealth management firm as Vice Chairman, continuing his commitment to philanthropy and education.

A response on behalf of the new Honorary Fellows was given during the ceremony, which was attended by 120 guests. The event was hosted by The Rt Hon the Baroness Hodge of Barking, Chair of Council, and Professor Julie Sanders, Vice-Chancellor and Principal.
