We are a group of Bedford alumni who keep in contact by WhatsApp, currently 26 members. We meet-up once or twice a term at the Bedford Room, 11 Bedford Square. Last June we also organised a walk in Regent’s Park and visited Regent’s University. The building has changed a lot internally, which was quite sad, but the library was just as we remembered it, except the books on display were very different, reflecting the changing times and degree subjects on offer.
Our gatherings are quite informal, we meet 1.00-3.30pm and rotate the day of the week to be as inclusive as possible. There is no charge and we bring our own lunch and often share with others.
The group serves a multitude of purposes, not the least of which is to make use of the Bedford Room, which is the Bedford College alumni base in London. We share stories about our lives and interests. New members are invited to introduce themselves if they wish, or just listen to others. Each meeting one or two members come prepared to introduce a discussion on a relevant topic. We are always amazed at how much we have in common and usually feel quite up-lifted by the opportunity to share memories and experiences.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 7 November 2023 and you are very welcome to join us, there is no need to book.
