As a new member of the Bedford Society committee I recently attended my first committee meeting at which use of the Bedford Room was discussed. The room is an amazing resource in the centre of London, helping to make up for the loss of Bedford College as our ‘natural home’ in London.
It can be used by any of us as a place to meet up with friends when we are in London, perhaps before or after visiting the theatre etc. However, I am wondering if there is scope for it to be used on a regular, but less formal, basis in addition to the type of events that have so far taken place, which have involved quite a lot of time and resources to organise.
We could hold a get together once or twice a term, a chance to meet up regularly with old friends and make new ones. There could be a different discussion theme each meeting. For example, around current affairs, books, unusual retirement activities, or simply describing aspects of our various careers and lives.
If, like me, you value the room being there for us please get in touch. Email me a line or two so that I have some idea how many may be interested. Please include the time and days that may be most suitable and I’ll organise an initial meeting to get something started.
