Stories from Old Bedfordians. What I did with, or despite, my degree

Stories from Old Bedfordians. What I did with, or despite, my degree

Thursday 19 October, 5.30pm - 11 Bedford Square, London

Come to hear something of what a few alumni have done since their Bedford College days. Five volunteers will speak about an interesting aspect of their careers or life in general, and how it does or does not relate to their degree. We want the evening to be interactive so there will be time to ask questions and tell something of your own story if you wish, or simply marvel at what others have done. We hope some of you will be inspired to write something of your own story for the termly newsletters during the upcoming anniversary year that we can collate into an inspiring digital record that will outlive us all and be a permanent legacy, showing the true worth of our Bedford College education, maybe even produce a book if we can get enough stories.

Chair

Betty Hales (Physics 1970-73), last Headteacher of Hackney Downs School and then special provisions for pupils with Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties

Speakers

Caroline Willbourne (BA Philosophy & Greek, 1964-67) will outline her path from Bedford to Barrister.

Susie West (Biology 1970-73), author of An ordinary Doctor, GP, forensic and Naval doctor, definitely anything but ordinary.

Carol Lovelidge (Biochemistry 1960-63) will describe how she managed to get her MSc behind the Iron Curtain in Leipzig.

Geoff Llewelyn (Sociology, 1969-72) began his career at the BBC, worked in several other companies and now lectures in Business Management.
