Royal Holloway academics have developed four new microcredentials for the suite of options offered by the University of London to support students’ lifelong learning ambitions and career development. These are focused on project management, covering:

·       Advanced project funding, finance and risk management

·       Information technology project management

·       Operations and quality management

·       Environmental sustainability for project management

Each is a 15-credit, fully online postgraduate-level course which learners can start immediately without a formal application and study at their own pace.

The new courses build on the University of London offer, which launched earlier this year with other University of London Federation members. All options are ‘stackable’, meaning learners can build credits towards a recognised University of London postgraduate qualification over time, with control over which options they study, where, and when.

This innovative collaboration across the Federation is reflective of the need for more extensive lifelong learning provision across the sector.

Sam Brenton, Director of Lifelong Learning at the University of London, said: "The new courses available through the University of London’s microcredentials reflect the University’s long-standing commitment to making world-class education accessible to the widest possible audience, wherever they are in life.

“By working across our unique federation of leading institutions, we are able to bring together the very best academic expertise and offer learners genuinely flexible routes into postgraduate-level study. Whether you are looking to advance in your current career or explore something entirely new, these courses are designed to fit around your life."

Professor Christos Tsinopoulos, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at Royal Holloway, said: “This is an exciting new initiative which is the result of our collaborative work with the University of London. The four microcredentials are based on our very successful MSc in Project Management.  They provide foundational knowledge and key skills at the level required to manage projects effectively, efficiently, and in an environmentally friendly manner.

“Upon successful completion, students will have acquired the language project managers use and become accomplished with the relevant financial tools. The learning platform which the University of London has developed is intuitive and makes creative use of AI to communicate the concepts throughout the four microcredentials.

“By combining academic excellence with industry insight, these microcredentials bridge the gap between theory and practice, ensuring successful candidates are prepared to meet the growing demand for skilled project professionals across the public, private, and third sectors.”
