Governance

Find out about the people who lead Royal Holloway, and the structures we have in place for good governance and responsible decision-making.

Governance and leadership

The University Council is the governing body of Royal Holloway. Responsible for overall strategy and policymaking, it comprises a mix of elected, independent and ex officio members.

The Vice-Chancellor and Senior Leadership Team are directly responsible for the leadership and management of the University.

Executive Board approves (or recommends to Council where appropriate) all major strategies, policies, projects, and decisions around use of resources. The Executive Board comprises the Senior Leadership Team and Executive Deans. Non-members may be invited to join meetings where their specific expertise is needed to inform decision-making.

Academic Board is the most senior academic decision-making body at the University. It is responsible for teaching, examining, and research, providing advice and assurance to the University Council in these areas.

Student voice

Royal Holloway Students’ Union (RHSU) is fully autonomous, with the President serving as an ex officio member of University Council.

Our relationship with University of London
