Coronavirus (Covid-19) update - Friday 7 August 2020

At Royal Holloway Sport we appreciate our members and visitors may be anxious about returning to the Sports Centre in the wake of the coronavirus (Covid-19) situation. Please be assured that following government advice we are implementing a carefully planned, phased approach to reopening. We have been working together with UK Active, national governing bodies, BUCS, and a range of other partners to implement best practices to help shape our sport and fitness programme in this unprecedented time.

We are aiming to re-open our facilities in early September 2020 and will be looking to confirm a specific date in the near future.

To ensure the safety of both our users and staff, we will be implementing a number of new COVID-19 specific measures:

  1. Staff will be fully trained on our new cleaning and safety measures to ensure these are delivered to the highest standards. They will also be supplied with recommended protective equipment when working on site to ensure user and staff safety.
  2. A new COVID-19 specific cleaning schedule of high-touch surfaces, facilities, and equipment will be implemented to keep the premises as safe as possible.
  3. We will also be introducing other new control measures, such as: (1) signage encouraging users to follow social distancing guidance provided by the government (2) limiting the capacity numbers for pre-booked sessions (3) creating a secure site with one point of entry and a separate point of exit (4) a queue management system to control numbers within the facility at one time.
  4. Prior to purchasing a membership, users will have to agree to a ‘COVID-19 Commitment Statement’, watch a COVID-19 specific induction video, and agree the normal ‘Health Declaration Statement’.

We will be following and monitoring government guidance constantly and planning for any changes which may arise. Any changes or updates to our procedures will be communicated immediately to members through social media, on site, and our website.

We appreciate your help and understanding as we work through this time together.
