Welcome Week Concert 2025

Welcome Week 2025

Join the Welcome Week Orchestra and Chorus for our opening musical showcase at Royal Holloway with a concert of songs, dances and meditations to kickstart the year, featuring a rich tapestry of works by composers from around the world. This is sure to give our audience a close-up insight into the very best orchestral and choral music making at Royal Holloway, whilst all performed by our fresh, new students.

Event programme

Programme to include:

Dobrinka Tabakova (b. 1980): Centuries of Meditation
Gerald Finzi (1901-1956): My spirit sang all day
Reginal S. Wright: We are the music makers
Edvard Grieg (1843-1907): 'Morning' from Peer Gynt, Op. 23
Amy Beach (1867-1944): Bal Masque
Modest Mussorgsky (1839-1881): Night on Bald Mountain
Arturo Márquez (b. 1950): Conga del Fuego

Get involved

The Welcome Week Orchestra is an important part of bringing new and returning students together at the beginning of each academic year. It is compulsory for students enrolled at the Department of Music to be involved in either the orchestra or choir, but we also welcome any other new student from a different discipline.

If you are a new or returning student at Royal Holloway, and would like to get involved as a vocalist or instrumentalist, then please visit this webpage on Student Intranet (link embedded).
