To underpin this commitment, we are in the process of applying for a University and College Fairtrade award, which is due to be awarded in June 2025 and will be valid for two years thereafter.

What are we doing to support Fairtrade?
- We participate in Fairtrade Fortnight (September) each year to raise awareness
- We deliver Fairtrade promotions on other key dates in the Fairtrade calendar (e.g. International coffee day - 1 October 2024, National Chocolate Week - 16-22 October 2024)
- We hold an annual Fairtrade and ethical trading showcase (13 March 2025) where we invite our community to sample products from our ethical suppliers and participate in other Fairtrade activities (e.g. Fairtrade bracelet making)
- All of our University catering outlets on campus as well as the SU Shop offer a range of Fairtrade products
- All of the tea and coffee that we serve to our external visitors to campus is Fairtrade
- We have established a Fairtrade Steering Group with the purpose of increasing consumption of Fairtrade products on campus and improving knowledge and understanding of Fairtrade
Fairtrade student and staff survey 2024-2025
Our Fairtrade student and staff survey aimed to understand to what extent our community understood Fairtrade and its significance in order to help target future Fairtrade action plans. The results of the survey can be seen here.
