Royal Holloway has an abundance of music ensembles that cater to the needs and wonderful talents of our students, many being led by internationally-renowned professionals. Applications are now open for your chance to play a part in the varied activities and performance opportunities that Orchestras at Royal Holloway have planned for 2025-26. 

This is open to all students from any degree/course. Both new and returning students have to audition for these groups.

Important information 

• The selection panel consists of Rebecca Miller (Director of Orchestras) and one invited leading professional.
• All auditions will take place in-person on either Monday, 29 September 2025 or Tuesday, 30 September 2025. 
• All auditions will take place in Woodlands Building Room 1 (ground floor).
• Applicants will audition without an accompanist/accompaniment.
• Please prepare orchestral excerpts for your audition beforehand. You have been asked to prepare these so that our panel can get to know how your approach learning instrumental parts in a time-sensitive manner. Please click here to visit the list of orchestral excerpts (link embedded). 
• Based on your audition, you will be allocated to an ensemble(s). If your instrument does not fall within these groups (i.e. percussion), please contact Rebecca.Miller@royalholloway.ac.uk.  
• Applications close at 5.00pm on Thursday, 25 September 2025. Applications received after this deadline may not be considered. 
• First rehearsal for all applicants will take place on Wednesday, 8 October 2025.
