I am Teaching Fellow in German Language and Culture and teach on the German, Film and Translation Studies programmes in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Culture.
For first-year students, I teach GM1400 German Language: Culture and Translation, GM1701 German Advanced Written and ML1102 The Birth of Film.
My second-year teaching consists of ML2400 Questions of Translation and Transcultural Communication, GM2009 German Language II (Comprehension) and GM2122 Death, Desire, Decline: Thomas Mann and Franz Kafka. My third-year teaching includes GM3009 German Language III.
I am a specialist in German as a Foreign and Second Language with a particular interest in language politics, migration and integration. In my PhD research, I explored the language used in a range of texts that aim to teach values to people, including newly designed teaching material and curricula for language and integration courses.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in German Philology and a Master’s degree in German as a Foreign and Second Language from the University of Vienna. Before joining Royal Holloway, I taught at universities in Ireland, Austria and México.
