Runway is a striking dance and art installation which has been developed by Surrey Arts Partnership, where for one night only the National Trust site in Runnymede will have an illuminated installation. It will involve memories, sculptures, dance, and media with the aim of sharing themes of freedom and flight within a performance by the river.
This is the culmination of a project led by Surrey Arts working with visual artist Mary Branson and choreographer Rosie Heafford, responding to the historic site, its themes of flight and freedom, and the nearby Air Force Memorial. It is part of the wider Forgotten Festivals project that brings together events across Surrey that celebrate communities and their histories. It will feature innovative sound and lighting elements and be performed by around 60 local people of all ages in a magical community event.
Volunteer stewards are needed for a range of roles to help make the event happen, and there will be workshops for any dancers who want to be involved during the first two weeks of the new academic year.
