Food and fairtrade

WesupportFTThere are a number of fair trade associations such as the World Fair Trade Organisation and the Fairtrade Foundation.

The Fairtrade Foundation awarded the College Fairtrade status in December 2005. This shows our commitment to ensuring that we support fair trade.  This helps us to make sure that producers in the developing world sell their produce for better prices, have decent working conditions and fair terms of trade.  To learn more watch this video.

We sell a number of FairTrade products in the Store on Campus such as chocolate, tea and coffee.  All tea and coffee sold on campus is FairTrade and we constantly try to sell and procure as many FairTrade products as we can.

If you are interested in what we are doing you can read the College Fairtrade Report 2010.  You can get involved by coming along to our FairTrade Steering Group meetings or by contacting the Sustainability Team or follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with what we are doing.
