We offer a range of activities for Year 7 students that can be delivered in school, on our campus or online.

Aspiration

Find out what makes university different from school, meet current university students and discover the wide range of fascinating courses available to study. 

Duration: 1 hour session | Can be offered as part of a full day with subject tasters and a campus tour
Delivered by: Royal Holloway staff and current undergraduate students
Student outcomes: 
  1. Understand the value of a degree in all terms (intellectual, cultural, financial, etc.)
  2. Know about the academic, financial and pastoral support available within universities
  3. Confidence in the personal benefits attending university can bring them

Living by yourself, making your own food, setting your own timetable: university students are very independent. Follow a day in the life of a current university student and find out what the university experience is really like. 

Duration: 1 hour session | Can be offered as part of a full day with subject tasters and a campus tour

We can organise visits to campus that include meetings current students, exploring the campus facilities and taking part in engaging information and subject taster activities. Due to current circumstances please contact us to discuss options.

Duration: Half or full day. Typically 10:00 - 14:30

Subjects

With a focus on Coco (Disney/Pixar) and The Book Of Life (20th Century Fox) this interactive session explores how Mexican culture is presented through film. 

Subject crossover: Modern Languages/Spanish, History, English, Film Studies, Geography, Art & History

Connecting young people with nature.

The Schools’ Biodiversity Project helps schools to learn about the surrounding wildlife, from beetles to birds, as well as create places for them to live.

This includes introducing light boxes to monitor moths, pond dipping and setting camera traps. When needed, students are paired with trained undergraduates to help run curriculum-based projects.

Join us as we explore and decode how advertisements use specific imagery, words and hidden messages to sell their products. 

Subject crossover: Sociology, Art & Design, Media Studies, Business Studies and English

This session will look at Ocean Currents/Systems and touch upon aspects of the KS3 Geography curriculum such as Local Weather Systems, Rivers and Climate.

This highly interactive session will also look at our environmental impact on the oceans especially from oil spills.

Students will create their own political party and understand what really matters to them as they start to develop their own political ideas.

In this session students will understand the roles of political parties, analyse what makes political parties more or less successful and work in groups to create a party manifesto that represents them.
