Cash award of £3,000 over three years for Black UK Psychology students

Two are available for students studying a single honours Psychology degree.

This award is named in honour of alumna Sarah Parker Remond, who broke barriers as an abolitionist, women’s rights campaigner and public speaker.

It is one of several initiatives that the Department of Psychology is undertaking as part of our Race Equality Charter, and is a positive action measure under s.158 of the Equality Act 2010 to address gaps in an under-represented group of UG students, as identified within our department. Note that we reserve the right not to award in any given year.

The scholarship also acts to address the gap in under-represented groups of students, as set out in our Access and Participation Plan.

Am I eligible?

• Home fee status
• One of the following categories of ethnicity: 
  • Black African
  • Black Caribbean
  • Black Other
  • Mixed - White and Black Caribbean
  • Mixed - White and Black African
  • Other mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other)

• Hold an offer to study for one of the following:
  • BSc Psychology
  • MSci Psychology
  • BSc Applied Psychology
  • BSc Psychology, Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience
  • BSc Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Mental Health
  • BSc Psychology, Development and Developmental Disorders.
