Are you a leader of tomorrow? You could be one of our Future Leader scholars.
Three Future Leaders Scholarships are available to new undergraduate students from the UK, who have the potential to be one of the leaders of the next generation.
These scholarships cover the full tuition fee for three years of undergraduate study at Royal Holloway.
Am I eligible?
You must have Home fee status and have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, high grades in A-level or equivalent. As a guide, previous applicants have achieved, or been predicted, AAA or equivalent (including contextual offers).
The key attribute we're looking for is outstanding leadership skills, so you should demonstrate this in your scholarship application. Leadership can include a wide range of activities, for example, but not limited to: providing mentoring to other students, managing a project or group activity, holding a position of trust inside or outside of school or college or taking part in a scheme such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
You must have a current conditional or unconditional offer to study at Royal Holloway and can be applying for any of our undergraduate degree courses.
How do I apply?
You must apply via our online system Royal Holloway Direct. The closing date for applications is 26 March 2021 (11.59pm UK time).
Please provide a supporting statement of no more than 400 words, which should include:
- academic achievements you are particularly proud of and why these really matter to you.
- why you have chosen to do the degree you have applied for.
- what your future aspirations are and how the scholarship will help you to achieve your future goals.
- how you have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills.
Your application will be scored based on your predicted/achieved grades and how effectively your statement answers the above.
Terms & conditions
The scholarships are available as a full tuition fee reduction. This is equivalent to the full annual Home tuition fee over the first three years of study, unless you spend a year abroad or on an industrial placement. In such cases, the tuition fee reduction will be applied in year four, instead of year three.
If you are on a four-year course, with no industrial placement, or a five-year course with an industrial placement, the scholarship will be paid in the first three years of the degree course only.
You need to achieve an average academic grade of at least 60 per cent, each year, in order to keep receiving the scholarship.
You will only receive the scholarship if you achieve the minimum grades stated in your offer letter.
