Bradley de Glehn Philosophy Scholarship

Tuition fee reduction of up to £9,600 for taught postgraduate degrees within the Department of Philosophy.

One scholarship is available for full or part-time postgraduate students with Home or international fee status.

The scholarship was established by Mrs Ernest de Glehn in memory of her brother, AC Bradley. 

The tuition fee reduction is to the value of the Home status fee for your chosen course. You can find out more about fees for individual courses on our course finder.

Am I eligible?

  • Offer to study one of the following courses: 
    • MA European Philosophy
    • MA Political Philosophy
    • MA Modern Philosophy

How do I apply?

You must submit your application via RH Direct.

You will need to write a statement explaining why you think you should be awarded the scholarship. Read the guidelines below for information on what you must include in your application.

The deadline for applications is 3 July 2023. We will let you know the outcome of your application from 24 July 2023.

You must provide a supporting statement of no more than 400 words, which should include: 

  • Academic achievements you are particularly proud of and why these really matter to you 
  • Why you have chosen to do the degree you have applied for 
  • What your future aspirations are and how the scholarship will help you to achieve your future goals 

Your statement will be judged on how effectively and convincingly you respond to the above. 

Applications which exceed the word count will automatically be rejected. 

As well as your statement, you must upload your undergraduate degree transcript. You must also provide one academic reference of up to 200 words (on official headed paper) which should be emailed to rhps@rhul.ac.uk. Any applications that are submitted without an uploaded transcript or academic reference will be rejected.
