Developing ultra low temperature thermometry

Research by the London Low Temperature Laboratory has acted as a key driver for improvements in scientific instrumentation, refrigeration and thermometry to meet critical market needs, including the capability to measure the absolute temperature in these extreme environments. Dr Mark Sugrue’s PhD in Video Analytics at Royal Holloway, and his Dublin based start-up Kinesense Ltd developed new methods to detect motion, track objects and classify behaviour in CCTV footage, enabling far more efficient scanning of video. Society has benefited worldwide from increased crime detection by police forces and security agencies, and the consequent prevention and reduction of criminal activity using forensic video analysis tools.
