Pears Foundation PhD scholarship
The Department of History is pleased to offer the Pears Foundation PhD scholarship to Home/EU students wishing to study a PhD, commencing in September 2017.The scholarship is worth £20,748 per annum for three years full-time study.
Am I eligible?
You can apply for this scholarship if you're a Home/EU applicant and would like to undertake a PhD in the History department. The successful applicant will work on the World Jewish Relief Central Fund Archives. This will be supervised by Dr Simone Gigliotti and Professor Dan Stone.
You need to have completed an MA (first class) in a relevant field (History, Refugee Studies, Holocaust Studies etc) and be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in the history of migration to the UK in the context of World War Two.

Additional terms and conditions
This scholarship is for a full-time PhD. No part-time applications will be considered at the time of application, or after the start of the PhD.
You are strongly encouraged to visit the website of the Holocaust Research Institute to learn about our history, vision, academic staff and research strengths. The Holocaust Research Institute is housed within the Department of History at Royal Holloway, which boasts an active and stimulating research culture for postgraduate students.
You are also strongly advised to visit the website of the World Jewish Relief and its UK archive catalogue at the London Metropolitan Archives to assist in developing a dissertation focus (see Section 6 of the application form).
