Why did you choose to study at Royal Holloway?

I came to Royal Holloway through Clearing, but from the moment I first visited the campus I knew I'd made the right choice. Everyone I spoke to was enthusiastic and welcoming, and the campus was beautiful. I love it here, and I'd definitely choose to stay on at Royal Holloway for a master's course.

What do you enjoy most about studying History?

The History department here is wonderful - the lecturers are incredibly knowledgeable about their subjects. I've always had a passion for history, so being able to spend my time reading about medieval history and the Tudor monarchy has been awesome.

What is your favourite thing about being a student at Royal Holloway?

I love the fact that we're a campus university, because it makes for such a friendly atmosphere. You always bump into people you know, and it makes for a very sociable atmosphere. We're close to London so you can easily travel into the city, but the campus is within walking distance of the beautiful Windsor Great Park if you want come peace and quiet.

What is the student life like?

It's so easy to get involved with life on campus here at Royal Holloway. In my time here I've written for a student run newspaper and a magazine, I've had part time jobs writing for the college and I've been involved with various societies and campaigns run by the Students' Union. In the process, I've met some truly wonderful and inspiring people. Of course you have to balance all this with the studying you need to do for your course, but there are so many exciting opportunities you might as well make the most of it.

What are your future plans and has your degree helped you achieve these?

I absolutely love history, so I know I want to so something to so with my course. I've always had a passions for the preservation of old buildings, so ideally I'd want to work with a heritage organisation to preserve and promote these to the public. Once I've finished my third year of undergraduate study, I want to continue studying as a postgraduate student. I think that my experience of studying here as an undergraduate has certainly given me the skills and knowledge needed in order to undertake further study.
