Why did you choose to study at Royal Holloway?

Originally, I was recommended Royal Holloway by one of my drama teachers at 6th Form who is currently studying here for his PhD. I looked around the university and liked the feel of the campus-based environment. I found, when I cam to visit, I could imagine myself here and knew it was the right place for me.

What do you enjoy most about studying Drama and Theatre?

I love the variety my course has to offer. Not only are there the standard modules you would expect from a drama department such as physical theatre and playwriting, there are a huge variety of other modules you can take such as Shadow Puppetry and Theatre, Magic and Witchcraft. I also enjoy the group-work side of the course. There are lots of opportunities to work together with other students on different projects, which can help you make friends with a whole variety of different people.

What is your favourite thing about being a student at Royal Holloway?

The location of the University is one of my favourite things about being a students here because not only are you a short train ride into Waterloo in London, but you are far enough out that the University still has a countryside feel to it as well as having both Virginia Water and Windsor Great Park so close.

What is the student life like?

There is a whole range of things to do as a student at Royal Holloway in your spare time. There is a huge variety of clubs and societies, which you can get involved with throughout your time at here. Being so close to London it's really easy to pop in for the day on the train to go to the theatre, cinema, shopping or to go to one of the many attractions London has to offer such as The London Dungeons.

What are your future plans and has your degree helped you achieve these?

At the moment, I'm still deciding what to do once I finish my University course. Royal Holloway offers an excellent careers service, which, being part of the University of London, has an excellent range of resources and guidance it can give you. I am considering persuing a career within theatre when I graduate but I am also looking at further study in Drama and Theatre.
