There are several options for students seeking accommodation over summer.
Firstly, Campus Services designate a certain number of rooms in Halls as ‘Vacation Residence’. These rooms are available for students of the university to book for any period of time during the vacation, subject to availability. There is a charge calculated on a nightly rate, which must be paid in advance. Students wishing to receive more information should contact any of the Halls Receptions.
Secondly, resident landlords often offer accommodation on a more flexible basis but you should enquire with the landlord as to how long they would be prepared to accommodate you for.
For students seeking accommodation for a few nights or more then we are happy to supply a list of local guesthouses upon request by email to email@example.com. Temporary accommodation is also available on campus at The Hub guesthouse.
The fourth and final possibility is to find a student seeking to sublet their private sector tenancy over the summer period. Adverts from other students seeking someone to take over their contracts can be found on the HouseSearch message board. You must exercise caution as if the landlord is unaware of the tenant of a room changing it can be considered subletting; landlords do not take kindly to subletting and often have clauses in their contracts prohibiting it. Landlords should always be aware and have agreed to a change of tenant in their property. Please refer to Shelter's webpages for more information on subletting.
