If you need to prove that you are currently a student at Royal Holloway, all you need to do is download your Student Status Certificate from the ‘Enrolment’ tab of your Campus Connect account. It’s that simple!
What is a Student Status Certificate?
Your Student Status Certificate is an official document from the University which confirms your enrolment as a student at Royal Holloway. The certificate will confirm your personal details (full name, date of birth, personal and home address) as well as your study details (programme of study, level of study, length of study, programme start date and programme end date).
The certificates most common uses are:
- to apply for council tax exemption
- evidence of UK residence for the EU Settlement Scheme
- to open a bank account
- police registration
- to show a financial sponsor
- to show a landlord when renting accommodation
- applying for settled status in the UK
- to provide to an employer for an internship abroad
- to apply for a Visitor visa for the purpose of resitting your exams
How to download your Student Status Certificate
To view and print your Student Status Certificate:
- Log on to Campus Connect
- Click on the ‘Enrolment’ tab
- Click ‘download’ in the Student Status Certificate section
If you need to print your Certificate, make sure you use a colour printer.

In order to be eligible for a Student Status Certificate you will need to have:
Please note, you will be unable to receive or access your Student Status Certificate in the period between the end of your Pre-sessional English Language course and the commencement of your main degree course and you will need to complete all enrolment steps before you can receive or access your main Student Status Certificate for your main course.
If you are studying the 4, 8 or 12 week Pre-sessional English Language course on campus, you’ll be able to download this from your Campus Connect portal from under the ‘Enrolment’ tab.
If you are studying the online version of the 4, 8 or 12 week Pre-sessional English Language course, you’ll have to request a Student Status Certificate, if you need one, by emailing the Student Services Centre.
If you're on year in business or studying abroad, you will not have access to your downloadable Student Status Certificate on Campus Connect. If you require a copy of your Student Status Certificate, please email your request to the Student Services Centre.
Please note, you will need to have completed Online Sign-up & paid any outstanding fees before we can issue you with this document.
If you have interrupted your studies you will not be able to access the downloadable Student Status Certificate.
If you are on a period of interruption and are a Undergraduate or Postgraduate Taught student and require a Student Status Certificate, please contact the Student Services Centre.
If you are on a period of interruption and are a Postgraduate Research student and require a Student Status Certificate, please contact the Doctoral School.

No, the Student Status Certificate is only available for your current programme of study. If you studied a previous programme at Royal Holloway and need evidence of this, you can order a Proof of Study Letter from our Online Store.
The start and end date of your programme of study is stated on your Student Status Certificate. This is confirmation of your studies during previous academic year(s).
We are unable to address the Student Status Certificate to any person or organisation but you can give your downloadable document to them and should the organisation or third party wish to verify the authenticity of the document, they can send a scan of the document you have issued them with and we would be happy to assist.
If you are studying at Royal Holloway on a student visa and want to travel to Europe whilst you are here, you can request a Schengen Visa Letter which can be addressed to the relevant Embassy or Visa Application Centre.
We can on request provide a signed and sealed envelope at no extra charge if we are satisfied that it is to support the requirements of an official application. If you require a Student Status Certificate to be sent to a third party in a signed and sealed envelope, please contact the Student Services Centre.
If you have completed your program of study but you are still waiting for your results, you can request a Results Pending Letter as confirmation of your studies at Royal Holloway.
You will be able to verify your student status via the Student Status Certificate which lists your programme’s start and end date. Please note that internships overlapping with Royal Holloway official term-times must be limited to a maximum of 20 working hours per week during term-time, as per University regulations. For any queries regarding internships, please contact the Careers Service.
If your personal or forwarding address is incorrect, you can update these details in Campus Connect by following these instructions:
- Log into Campus Connect
- Go to the My personal details tab
- Click on ‘My contact details'
- Click on 'Update Your Address'
- Overtype any corrections and then click 'save'.
