Updates from departments

USS pensions

The College has received formal notification from the University and College Union (UCU) that it is proposing industrial  action at 61 universities, including Royal Holloway, with a series of strikes starting later on 22 February, alongside action short of a strike. The action is in response to proposed changes to the staff pensions in the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

We recognise union members’ right to industrial action however, we will make every effort possible to minimise the impact on you. Our priority is to ensure the delivery of the curriculum and support you to succeed.

We do not know the level of disruption this will cause as all staff are not members and even those who are members may not take part in the strike, or may decide only to strike on some days.  They are not obliged to tell us if they will be taking action in advance of the strike.

We will be doing all we can to ensure that all learning is still completed for students during this time.
