Noticeboard usage policy

When you use our campus noticeboard you're subject to our noticeboard usage policy. The policy is there to keep things fair, and to keep the noticeboard useful for our campus community.

What the noticeboard is for

We provide the campus noticeboard feature on the student intranet to help Royal Holloway students and staff connect with each other, and to advertise personal goods or services to other members of the College community. The noticeboard is for non-commercial purposes only (ie you can’t run a business off it) and is exclusively for the use of Royal Holloway students and staff.

Publishing your messages

When you submit a message, we’ll generally try and post it within 24 hours.  This could take longer at busy times, though, and we don’t guarantee that we’ll publish your message within any specific timeframe.

We reserve the right to withhold or withdraw publication of any information, at any time, and for any reason.

The notices on the noticeboard, including their content and the goods or services they advertise, are not in any way endorsed by Royal Holloway, and we can’t accept any liability for any assumed reliance in this regard.

Advertising accommodation (including room swaps)

Finding new or replacement housemates

If you’re looking for someone to replace you in a tenancy contract, or you want to form a housing group, please don’t include house numbers or landlord or agency contact details in your message.  We won’t publish your message if you do.

Hall swaps

Hall swaps must always be processed through the Student Services Centre.

We won’t publish messages offering ‘rewards’ (of any kind) for rooms.

You can’t sublet a room in College Halls: a room in Halls can only be occupied by the student who signed the let for that room. If you’re discovered subletting, you could be subject to fines, disciplinary action and removal from Halls.

Advertising private accommodation

The student noticeboard is for use by Royal Holloway students and staff only.  If you’re an external landlord or estate agent, you can’t use our noticeboard to advertise.

We also won’t publish any ads from staff or students advertising properties to rent on behalf of landlords or lettings agents.

If you’re a Royal Holloway member of staff who is also a landlord, you may advertise your property on the noticeboard.

General disclaimer

Royal Holloway cannot assume any responsibility for the goods or services advertised on this noticeboard, and we provide no warranty about the status of any item or service. This is a comprehensive limitation of liability that applies to all damages of any kind, including (without limitation) compensatory, direct, indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, income or profit, loss of or damage to property and claims of third parties.
