Digital citizenship training is more than becoming a responsible internet user- our resources can help you develop essential critical thinking skills, improve wellbeing in an increasingly online world, and boost your employability by protecting your digital footprint. On the Library’s digital citizenship pages, you can access a range of resources, courses, and videos.

The key principles of digital citizenship include maintaining empathy and kindness both online and offline, respecting cultural differences, engaging thoughtfully in disagreements without personal attacks, thinking before posting to prevent harm or damage, and standing up for oneself and others by reporting unsafe behaviour. We have such a diverse and international community of which we all should all be incredibly proud, embrace and celebrate. In addition to protecting your community, many of these skills can protect you in the future when employers conduct background checks- potential employers have been known to reject applicants because of information discovered online.
