The next careers fair will take place on Wednesday 25 October 2017, 11am to 3pm in the Picture Gallery and North Quad.
Over 1,000 students attended the Careers Fair in 2016 and we are expecting the 2017 fair to be even busier, with a bigger venue and more employers!
Why attend a careers fair?
With many recruiters together on campus, fairs are a great way to speak with prospective employers in order to learn about career opportunities and understand their requirements. They aren't just for final year students either; first and second years can also benefit. Around three quarters of employers last year offered placements and/or internships as well as graduate training schemes.
Career Planning Cafè
Drop in to the marquee in Founder’s Quad from 11am to 3pm for one-to-one careers coaching and to talk through your options with a consultant. You’ll leave with an action plan.
Whether you want tips on what to say to employers, or need advice on how to make applications, the 20-minute seminars in the Large Boardroom throughout the day will set you in the right direction.
Need additional support?
If you'd like to attend the fair but need some assistance, get in touch with the Disabilities and Dyslexia Service in advance, or speak to a member of the careers team on the day.
Frequently asked questions
How should I prepare?
Research the employers beforehand, by downloading the RHUL Careers Fair App from your app store or pick up a copy of the booklet in the Careers Service in the Davison Building
Have some general questions to ask the employers, e.g. what's the work culture like? What roles are available?
There's no need to pre-register, but remember to bring your college ID card to be scanned as you enter the fair
What should I wear?
There's no set dress code, but remember you are there to meet real-life employers. No need to wear a suit, but a shirt and smart jeans will look better to a potential employer than a snapback and trackies!
I'm an internaional student. Are there opportunities for me?
If you're an international student, check which employers are able to sponsor work visas ahead on the app or in the booklet.
I'm a graduate. Can I attend?
Recent graduates of Royal Holloway are welcome to attend if they have graduated within the last two years.
I'm interested in recruiting student and graduates, how can I attend the fair?
If you're an employer offering graduate schemes, internships or placements, please register your interest here and further information will be sent to you. If you have any questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
