In accordance with the College Manual Handling Policy and Procedure, where an identifiable risk exists from manual handling activities, a risk assessment must be completed. At departmental level, appropriately trained members of staff (acting on behalf of their manager) will usually conduct these assessments. In undertaking this role, these individuals will gain the necessary knowledge and expertise to conduct risk assessments using the College manual handling assessment checklist and be able to identify and take remedial action where risks are established.
