Research Impact, knowledge exchange & commercialisation

Research impact support at Royal Holloway

Royal Holloway is keen that its researchers wanting their research to benefit the world beyond academia are supported in doing so. It is also keen that the college excels in the Research Excellence Framework (REF), in which impact carries a sizeable weighting. As a result, there are two, full-time Impact Managers based in Research & Enterprise working across faculties. Kristina Glushkova works on research impact that falls within government, corporate and social sectors, while Olivia Swift is responsible for research impact affecting the creative, cultural and heritage sectors. Together, the Impact Managers:

•      Support REF case study development.

•      Advise on Pathways to Impact in funding applications.

•      Working with other professional services departments, especially Organisational Development and External Relations & Communications, to support information sharing, learning and skills in relation to impact, college-wide.

•       Help build communities of interest around research topics.
