Dec 19 2017
As the holidays approach, I’d like to wish you all a very enjoyable and relaxing festive break.

2017 has been an eventful year in higher education: the Office for Students (OfS) was established, with the regulatory framework consultation closing on Friday 22 December 2017; participating HEIs were awarded their TEF rating, in our case, Silver; the ‘rules’ for REF2021 became clear; the Knowledge Excellent Framework emerged in support of the Government’s industrial strategy. Closer to home, 2017 has been a memorable year for our Royal Holloway campus and community. I’m proud of what we have achieved together. It’s your hard work that has enabled us to succeed, thank you.

Of course, the year has not yet concluded and many of our colleagues will be working on campus over the holidays, including our Security, Customer Service and Catering teams. If you are a member of a team working over the holidays, I’d like to say a very big thank you on behalf of the whole university for the role you will play in helping the students who will remain on campus to enjoy the festive season and feel supported, as well as maintaining the services we all rely on throughout the year.

Season’s Greetings to everyone, and I look forward to seeing you in 2018.
