It has taken just 23 months to unveil this spectacular addition to our campus; thank you for your support and patience over this time. The striking building gives students, staff and visitor access to opportunities, resources and facilities to help them achieve success, as individuals as part of our close knit community.

The Davison Building is now home to our Library, Student Services Centre and Careers & Employability services. For the first time the full Library collection, including 400,000 books, is in one location and accessible from one place 24 hours a day 350 days a year. There are 1,140 seats providing a choice of study environments from silent to creative and collaborate. There will be around 500 PCs and laptops available, charging your own devices will be easy with individual power points on desks.

The Student Services Centre and Careers & Employability services will be open longer and have dedicated spaces to provide an improved experience and service. The Exhibition Space will host a varied programme that includes materials drawn from our art and archive collections, as well as displays curated by academics and inspiring work by our students. The new Union Shop has a vast product range providing everything staff and students need to survive on campus and the Café on the Square is the perfect place for relaxing and socialising. Santander Bank will be accessible from the outside of the building and will have two ATMs.

As with any new building, it’s not perfect yet but over the next few weeks we will see all the areas and facilities become available and the building truly come to life as we welcome students, staff and visitors through its doors.  Details are here of when each service and the facilities will be available and you can find out more about each service including opening times in the building guide.

You are invited to be among the first to experience the building, to drop in and meet the team informally over tea and coffee on one of the following dates:

•       Thursday 14 September, 2pm – 4pm

•       Friday 15 September, 10am – 12pm

•       Tuesday 19 September, 2.30pm – 4.30pm

•       Wednesday 20 September, 10am - 12pm

There will also be half-hour tours of the building running during these times. If you wish to join a tour you will need to register in advance here.

The building will be formally opened by HRH The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University of London on 18 October 2017.  Look out for more details on the opening over the coming weeks.
