The Sports Centre, refurbished in 2013, is situated on our main campus and is the hub of activity and sporting life at Royal Holloway. It provides a multi-use sports hall, a 46 station fitness suite, aerobics area and changing facilities. We are also pleased to be able to offer a wide range of services including personal training and fitness classes.
September 2014 marked the completion of our world-class, floodlit outdoor pitches and courts. The new facility provides all-weather playing surfaces for a wide range of sports. This was made possible in part due to a generous bequest from Physics alumna Margaret Young.
Our 3G (third-generation astroturf) pitch for football & rugby is fully approved by both FIFA and is the only IRB approved 3G rugby pitch in Surrey. It can be used as a full size pitch for matches or split into half or third size areas for team training.
Our sand based hockey pitch can also be used for lacrosse.
Our new courts have space for four simultaneous tennis or three netball matches to take place at once. The courts are also finished with a splash of purple, one of Royal Holloway's traditional sporting colours!
Our multi-use games area (or MUGA for short) is the ideal facility for basketball or small sided football matches. It also includes a sprint track around its perimeter, perfect for fitness drills and training.
In addition to these, we are fortunate to have two grass football pitches, one grass rugby pitch, one cricket pitch plus two practice nets, four tennis courts and five netball courts - all on campus. In 2015/16 we will see the completion of our new American football pitch on campus too.
