Who can see what

Pure collects and stores lots of different types of information about researchers and research activity at Royal Holloway, but only some of this is displayed externally on the College's website.

Personal data

Personal data in Pure are brought in from the HR database and the student records system. When you log on to Pure, you will see that various personal information about you is displayed (i.e., the start dates for the organisation affiliation, your role, etc.).  This information can only be seen by you and a limited number of people (such as Editors of Persons or Organisations for your department and system administrators).

The only personal information displayed about you on the website is your name, academic and job title, affiliations, email address, phone and fax number. If any of your personal details are incorrect, please contact pure@rhul.ac.uk.

You can add information about yourself and your research interests by editing your Pure profile.

Bibliographic and research related data

For all your research outputs, projects and activities that are added to Pure, you can specify who should be able to see the particular item. When you open an item in Pure and scroll to the section Visibility at the end of the record, you will be able to choose the preferred visibility setting from the drop-down menu:

20120307visibility

If you apply the setting Not on web, the item will not be displayed on the website, but people who have logged on to Pure will be able to search for this item.

If you select the setting Restricted (applies to publications only), the item won’t be displayed on the website and only the co-authors, editors of the research output and administrators will be able to find this publication in Pure. Although it is possible to limit visibility of items in this way, it is not recommended that material of a sensitive or highly confidential nature be added to Pure.

Student data

Pure displays on the website information about your current and former postgraduate research students. Only information about students who were active from academic year 2007/2008 onwards is provided. If you notice any errors regarding students displayed under your profile, please contact pure@rhul.ac.ukClick here to find more about student data in Pure.
