The Gender Institute supports and augments activity in gender and sexuality studies on campus at Royal Holloway, University of London. The Gender Studies Masters Programme

This MSc Programme provides advanced interdisciplinary training in gender studies, focusing on the intersection of gender with other sources of social, historical and political inequalities. Students explore how gender shapes institutions and policies and learn to analyse inequalities across different social and political contexts, applying both theoretical and empirical insights.

Course Highlights

  • Key Gender Studies Modules:  Gender Theory, Methods and methodologies for Gender Studies, Practices of Gender(ed) Research, Body and Embodiment.
  • Intersectional Focus: Examines gender in relation to race, sexuality, class, and other dimensions across various social and geographic scales.
  • Pathways: Students may specialize in one of six pathways:
    • Gender Studies and Global Futures
    • Gender Studies and History
    • Gender Studies and History and Socio-Legal Studies
    • Gender Studies and International Relations
    • Gender Studies and Philosophy
    • Gender Studies and Politics
