Use it or lose it: How inclusive design can improve psychological therapy for psychosis
Real-world implementation of psychological interventions for psychosis is poor. User-centred, design thinking approaches can improve the usability of therapy, which may increase uptake, adherence and effectiveness. This talk will describe how an inclusive, user-centred design research approach was used to develop SlowMo, the first blended digital therapy for paranoia. SlowMo works by helping people to notice their worries and fast thinking habits, and encourages them to slow down for a moment to find ways of feeling safer. The functionality and interface of the SlowMo platform will be demonstrated and user feedback shared. Preliminary work on iterating and repurposing the SlowMo platform will be outlined, illustrating how digital therapies can be generalised to novel problems and users.
