Dr Paul Scovell (Boulby Underground Laboratory)

The Boulby Underground Laboratory is best known for operating experiments to search for dark matter for the past 30 years 1100 m underground on the north-east coast of England. However, this only scratches the surface of the science that has been performed at Boulby. Multidisciplinary projects range from particle and astroparticle physics, geology and geophysics, climate studies, environmental studies and the study of life in extreme environments. This talk will give an overview of the history of the Boulby Underground Laboratory, of activities currently ongoing and of our plans for the future.
